Don't be a Flamingo in Florida

Hasn't everyone seen those gaudy plastic flamingos sticking up in peoples' yards? The photo I chose was taken at Busch Gardens in Tampa, Florida. Ironically though these authentic flamingos and plastic yard decorators have a connection. These realife flamingos are not even native to our state, but the plastic imposters do not say much about Florida either. The point I'm trying to make is that everyone associates Florida as vacation all year round where there are hot pink flamingos and crescent shaped dolphins leaping from the water. This is simply NOT Florida. This photo represents what Florida has become to so many. I see bumper stickers that don the phrase "FloGrown" which is associated with country culture, Florida is more than just camo and beaches. Florida is a diverse state with cities that don't even have a beach (uh umm Gainesville?!). As I believe Herzog was trying to depict the real side of Florida, I am exposing the false image that others may have.
